Week 6 : The Instroduction

*Introduction
I will start by describing the current sate that many people use social network to communicate with others. also introduce about the function of social network service. And then start to mention about the problems of social network service, and some affect that will lead to.(loneliness)

1. Attract the audience.
Today a lot of people use internet. The internet became much familiar, so the internet users are on the increase. People through the internet communicate with social world and friends, search information which you want to konw, argue your oppinion on the government homepage, more over you can listen music which is recorded yesterday. We never imagine before. The internet makes the world become more faster and  closer. But didn't you ever thought about the defect of internet?

2. Explain the topic
The SNS is the key point of internet communication.Especially for young people, the SNS is the best method to communicate with friends. We can updating our recent life on Facebook let our friends know, also can write criticism about government then posting on our own blogge to show our interest in politics.

3. Declare your thesis
These SNS seem to make people more interactive. but actually, SNS makes people lonely.

Research 3

*study evidence
The revised Young’s (1996) Internet Addiction Test (IAT)
and the UCLA Loneliness Scale (Version III) were applied to measure a random
sampling of 335 Chinese college students. The results show that the utmost perceived
gratifications of the students’ uses of campus-SNS websites are to know what’s new
about their classmates and friends, and to communicate with others. Campus-SNS
website addicts tend to be female, young and have used the campus-SNS websites for
relatively a long time and frequently visit the homepages of others. More importantly,
loneliness was found to be a significant predictor for the campus-SNS website
addiction.

Research 2

How Facebook keeps score.
Examples of SNS makes people feel loneliness
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2010/aug/07/social-networking-friends-lonely

My Topic:
People who use SNS tend to feel loneliness more than who do not use SNS.

What I hope to learn from this source:
I want to know how facebook keeps fame and some examples which can prove my topic.

Notes:
How Facebook keeps score.
  1. You don't have to post a profile picture, or share your likes and dislikes with the world, though both are encouraged.
  2. You can avoid the news feed, the apps, the tweet-like status updates.
  3. You don't even have to choose a favourite quote.
  4. The one thing you cannot get away from is your friend count.
Examples of SNS makes people feel loneliness
  1. Five years ago, on probably the loneliest week of my life, my newly created Facebook page looked me square in the eye and announced: "You have 0 friends." I closed the account.
*Without a real-world social network with which to interact, social networking sites act as proof  of the old cliché: you're never so alone as when you're in a crowd.

Final Thoughts:
I had  know some futures of Facebook and one example which can support my topic.

reasons of sns makes people feel lonely.

My Topic:
SNS makes people feel lonely.

What I hope to learn from this source:
I want to know why SNS makes people feel lonely.

Notes:

  1. According to  German researchers Witnessing friends' vacations, love lives and work successes on Facebook can cause envy and trigger feelings of misery and loneliness
  2. Facebook, the world's largest social network that now has over one billion users and has produced an unprecedented platform for social comparison.
  3. The researchers found that one in three people felt worse after visiting the site and more dissatisfied with their lives, while people who browsed without contributing were affected the most.
  4. People compare how many birthday greetings they received to those of their Facebook friends and how many "likes" or comments were made on photos and postings.
Final Thoughts:
This source is helpful to me. I had know that people feel loneliness because of SNS is since that the SNS make people compare to others. Through Facebook we could see friend's living and think that is better than mine. These comparing makes people feel misery and loneliness. Also I had know that one billion people use Facebook.

Week 4 : Classical Argument Outline

*Introduction
I will  start by describing the current sate that many people use social network to communicate with others. also introduce about  the function of social network service. And  then start to mention about the problems of social network service, and some affect that will lead to.(loneliness)

*Narration

I will summarize the research I've done and provide some explanations for prove the social network makes people lonely. Also I will give some expert's opinion to help readers understand why the SNS makes people lonely.

*Confirmation

I will do some question investigation in our school to prove the SNS really makes us feel lonely, and then ask them why they think so. In  addition I want to collect some evidences from expert's experimentation that test between SNS user and nonuser's difference of loneliness they feel.

*Refutation and concession

I will mention about the a social misfit through the internet communicate with others. They can't communicate with others in real world, so they use internet to interact with the world. For this reason, some may say that the SNS does not makes people lonely, inversely it help the lonely person make friends.but  everybody already known that the internet friends is not same with real. I will use these type of people to make my topic stronger.

*Summation
I will close with a summary of my previous points, and give some advice to solve the problem. And then Also I want to coment some criticism about our contemporary society that produce so many lonely person,  maybe the SNS just is a product  of lonely society.

Week 3 : Articulating my argument

1)My argument is that social network service(SNS) makes people feel loneliness.
I want to argue that the SNS makes people feel loneliness. The program such as Facebook, Tweeter, instargram can communicate with others. But "Forty two per cent of Australians who used an average of four methods of technology to communicate (such as email, SMS, Facebook, Twitter) were lonely compared with 11 per cent of people who used only one," says Sue Miller, a manager at Relationships Australia Queensland.

2)How I found my argument
http://www.abc.net.au/health/thepulse/stories/2011/11/03/3353184.htm
My first research was "Is technology making us lonely?" Through this site I had know some informentions. "The quality of online communication is impoverished in comparison with the physical, real world face-to-face communication," says Dr Catriona Morrison, an experimental psychologist at the University of Leeds in England who has studied the link between depression and internet addiction.  "You often don't hear someone's voice and you don't see any body signals, which we know from traditional psychology are important." Like this, when we communicate with others, we have to use our voice(tone, speed, accent) and body(gesture, face expression) together, but the SNS just can use text. So it is the failed communication.

3) New research questions
still need to know
-how many people feel loneliness because of SNS?
-how can I solve the failed communication cause of SNS?
-what is the other reason for the loneliness because of SNS?
my reseach plan
I will continue use google to get information about SNS makes people lonely. Also I want to use examples to explan my argument.

4) Connections to the Harvard Sampler
This argument has many connections to  the Havardoth Smpler, especialy the with the "Human mind".  First, when we communicate with others, we use our visual and hearing. Without these sence of  bobily sensation, the communication will become failed. It prove that the human mind have a lot of influence on communication.

Week 2 : Research Proposal

-My current topic
SNS makes people feel loneliness. The more you use technology to communicate, the lonelier you are likely to be. We use Facebook to boast our new clothes, shoes, or go to the network friends for advice. But these actions let us feel loneliness.

-My guiding questions
I want to know why the SNS makes people feel lonely and what is the evidence, why today people use social network service to boast something? I use SNS, too. Sometime I feel the action to update facebook is futile, at the sametime I also feel self-esteem. What is the reason of the two diffrent feeling? I also want to know why although people feel loneliness because of social network service, but still many people use the SNS.

-What are my current thoughts
In the contemporary social, so many people use SNS, me too. When I login the Facebook, I could see my firends' recent sate, such as Eunjeong bought new laptop, Eunsoul had breaked up with her boyfriend or Yean ji feel stressful because of too many performance test. Like this people use SNS show their current life and get some advice or through the "like"button be consoled. Although the SNS user can get advice and consolation, they still feel a sense of emptiness. I wonder that why it happen to us, what is the reason.

-What is the opposition
SNS can make the person who can't communicate with outside(outsider) interact with network friends. It prove that SNS don't make people feel lonely, all the more it can make the oursider feel self-refard.
